Planning a meeting with your daughter is a great way to get her involved and get her even more excited for scouting. We envision girls and moms leading at least one meeting.
You can borrow a scouting book from us. There are lots of ideas, activities and talking points in it. Pinterest and the web in general are great for ideas.
When planning Google and Pinterest are your friends. Here is a cool page I found: https://www.pinterest.com/amberdesimony/gs/ or you can just Google virtual "Girl Scout meeting." Our council has resources here too: https://www.girlscouts.org/en/girl-scouts-at-home.html Suzanne and I have our Junior binders too with lots of ideas for activities to earn badges.
We have troop crayons, scissors, glue sticks and markers. If you need something special first send an email out to the troop to see if people have it/the already in their craft supplies (we pulled boondoggle string, felt and rubber bands from our craft closet this year). If you need to make a purchase remember that GS does not pay taxes. Bring a copy of the tax exempt form to store. I have a tax-exempt card for Walmart; email me and I'll kidmail it to you. If the purchase is over $15 run it by Suzanne or me in advance. Keep your receipt if you want to be reimbursed. You will probably want to get your plan together two weeks in advance in case we have to order something.
We can get supplies to people for virtual meetings ahead of time. For example make bags with materials for friendship bracelets and I can distribute or leave on my doorstep for pickup.
This is the (loose) outline that Suzanne and I follow for planning meetings:
Announcements/ pass info to with moms
1. Call meeting to order: Pledge of Allegiance and Girl Scout Law
2. Introduce topic- keep it interactive. Ask questions, brainstorm, group work. (They are only 10ish years old and don't have a log attention span for lectures. Their reading levels are all different too)
3. Craft or activity related to topic
4. Conclusion, what did you learn? wrap up, clean up
5. Sing GS song (you can find these on google)
